This is a message to lovinsanta: Hello there! Our Holiday World trip is fast approaching. I have received lots of great tips from friends who have been there, but I would love to know if you have any "frequent flyer" tips for me! The locals always know the really good stuff! ;-) We will be there next Monday and Tuesday. Several of our friends have said that their kids enjoy Holiday World more than Disney! Seriously! THANKS!
Where else but in blog-land would I "meet" someone who lives right in Santa Claus, Indiana and can give me the lowdown on Holiday World!? Thank you so much for your great tips, Heather (and Michelle)! I'm armed with knowledge and I know the boys are going to have a blast! Yippee! I'm excited--can you tell!?

I dont have any big tips, but my suggestion is to pick one of your days for water and one for dry. That way you have to carry a lot less stuff around. By the time you add towels/change of clothes for everyone it can be a load to haul about.
Also, my big advice (and my knee is proof of this) do NOT under any circumstances kneel in the Wave pool while it is on. It pushed me around the bottom and scraped the crap out of my knee and top of my foot.
call me if you have any questions. I was just there.

I'm so glad you guys are coming to our little town. Suggestions...
LODGING
If you don't have anywhere yet to stay then the Santa's Lodge is nice and local, otherwise, staying in Dale or Ferdinand are your next closest places. I would pack breakfast items because we do not have anywhere to eat (Subway is the only local fastfood). There is a Denny's (Dale) depending on where you are staying there might be a breakfast.
Holiday World opens at 9:30CST and Splashin Safari opens at 10:30 CST. My opinion is it is less crowded in Splashin Safari if you start there first. Most people come down there during the afternoon. I also suggest going to Splashin Safari when it opens at 10:30 and getting you a place to sit. One thing, the best part "new part" of Splashin Safari is in the back "Kimba Bay, Bahari River, Bahari Wave Pool and Bakuli." Since most don't know this they tend to stop at the front so I go straight to the back. Once set-up go ride the water rides FIRST! The other things you can play in all day, but nothing worse then waiting in lines. I would say Bakuli first if you go to the back then pick the others from there. You will start noticing it getting busy around 3:00 and that is when we always head to the dry park. However, if you are going two days it might be just as well to spend one day at wet and the other dry.
Also, if you go to the back depending on your kids swimming ability, I always grab a life jacket (provided) and put with my things. They are hard to come by later one for the little ones, but so nice to have in the wave pool.
The shows are great...we love the dive show and HoliDazzles. The food is awesome (shhhh...don't tell we are known to go there for dinner and maybe a funnel cake :))
Otherwise, just have a GREAT time and enjoy those FREE soft drinks all day long. Tickets are cheaper purchased at the gas station or grocery store in town.
If you go to the Holiday World website you can look at the map, and can lay out a plan ahead of time.
If you have any questions, let me know. Sorry I'm windy and hope you get some useful information. I can't wait to see a post about how you guys liked it. I think people like it better than Disney because it is cleaner, people are friendly, noone is trying to rip you off but it is just a family park. Where else do you get free sunscreen, free drinks all day, free parking and affordable food!!!

One last thing before I forget...you will only want to buy a one day ticket either at the gate or gas station, and buy your next day before you leave the park for $20. This saves you a lot of money.
You might have already known, but in case you didn't...
Have fun!
Heather
