Cardinals

It was miserably hot. And the Cards lost. Parker wouldn't hold up the sign. However, it was still a good day at the ballpark.

Our Visit With Honest Abe

On Casimir Pulaski Day (it's an Illinois thing which most Illinoisans don't know anything about--including me) the boys didn't have school so we FINALLY made it to the Abraham Lincoln Museum in Springfield. Jack shares a birthday with Abe, so he feels a special bond. Seriously. He loves Abraham Lincoln.
In Mrs. Lincoln's Attic, the boys played forever with old fashioned toys (some of which we had as kids!)
Parker and Buddy with some crazy wooden contraption.

Jack as Abe Lincoln.

Me and the boys with Abe, Mary and their boys. I sure hope my boys lead longer lives than 3 out of 4 of theirs did! Those poor people suffered greatly!
Anyway, it was the perfect day to go as it was not crowded. We LOVED it. I learned things I didn't know (which I did not think was possible regarding Lincoln) and the boys had fun and got educated in the process. Parker was mesmerized by all the war stuff and Jack liked one of the virtual plays that had a ghost in it. If you ever have a chance to go, I highly recommend it!

Part of Chicago

Some photos from our Chicago trip.

The window displays at Macy's (Marshall Field's). It was a story about how letters get to Santa.

"Giant Shiny Jelly Bean" according to our group.

Our reflection.

Super Boys

Whooohoooo....my computer remembered how to download pictures! Actually, I figured out another way to do it.

On our way home from Nashville a few weeks ago, we stopped in Metropolis, IL to visit Superman. Kitschy and cute!

Yes, I've been working out. ;-)

Actually, it's an apple orchard....

We went to the Okaw Valley Orchard last Thursday on a very beautiful fall day. There really isn't all that much to do by this time of year because the apples have all been picked but they LOVE to play on the cool playground they have. Mamaw and Buddy came with us, of course. For the last few years Jack has called it the "apple patch" which is just so cute. This year I told him we were going to the "apple patch" and he said, "Actually, it's an apple ORCHARD." Well, it was cute while it lasted.

Indianapolis Children's Museum

On Sunday, we went to the Children's Museum in Indy. WOW! It was just amazing. We could have spent an additional day there because we didn't get to do everything. We saw a planetarium movie about how the planets resemble the fictional Star Wars planets. We saw a Curious George play which Parker LOVED. He giggled the whole time. It was a very good performance and the perfect length of time for little kids. I think it is hard to go to children's museums with 2 (or more) kids because they move at different paces. And, what is extremely intersting to one child holds very little interest for the other. We had to split up most of the day because Parker wanted to linger and Jack is like the ball in a pinball machine. I think he could have stayed in the submarine all day though. We will definitely have to go back next year. They are getting a King Tut exhibit and Parker is fascinated by ancient Egypt. (He LOVES Discovery Channel.)
