Michelle Came Back!

My sweet friend Michelle moved in November and came back for a visit this week. That was cause for a Girl’s Night Out Celebration! We met at a local Italian restaurant where we ate lots of breadsticks and drank lots of wine. Then we went to a local martini bar where we drank more wine and watched the lamest bachelor auction ever. The bachelors were attractive guys but each of them brought about $30. I felt sorry for them—not sorry enough to bid on any of them—but still! I love these ladies and I’m so happy that we had a chance to hang out together for an evening!

Girls Weekend

My high school friends and I met in Carbondale this past weekend for our girl's weekend. Heather, Carmin and Michelle live in Nashville, Laura lives in Bloomington and Sherri and I are Mt. Zion so Carbondale was a nice half-way point. We arrived at about 11:30 on Saturday, went to eat Mexican, went shopping, back to the hotel for freshening up, then to dinner at a Japanese steakhouse, then back to the hotel to hang out until 2:00 a.m. (or 1:00 a.m. because of the time change) I love these girls so much. I have been friends with them for 24 years and I still think they are awesome. We laugh so much and we all still have so very much in common. We all have many of the same struggles and joys. I realized that although we do tell many of the same stories every time we get together, our perspective changes through the years--especially now that some of us have teenagers. I never get tired of hearing the same stories and I think we would all agree that we all thought we had heard everything there was to know about each other's high school experience, however, we discovered something new this weekend! Heather told us something new and it is one of the funniest things I've ever heard. I am not going to share the story because if she kept it quiet for this long, I don't think she wants me telling it on the internet but just trust me, it is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!! I laughed so hard my stomach hurt. So, the moral of this story is....good friends are a rare find and I am very blessed to have these women in my life. And, just when you think you know everything about them, they might just surprise you! Wonder Twin Powers Activate!

One day I googled "friendship bracelet" and came across a bracelet with a poem that talks about how each color represents some different aspect of friendship. I thought the bracelet was very ugly, but I figured I could come up with something better. So, I tried my hand at jewelry making and this is the result. My girlfriends and I had an "All Girl Getaway" and I gave these to each of them. I think they turned out pretty nice.

Our reunion went better than any of us could have hoped. The Beach House was the perfect location. The food was good and everything looked great. We had about 110 people there and every time I looked around everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. (I'm sure I will hear some mean stuff later, but I really don't care.) I swear that everyone--and I do mean everyone--looked great! It was so nice to see people I haven't seen in years. I tried to make it a point to talk to everyone that I knew on any level in high school. I'm sure I didn't succeed, but I did try. Of course, some people haven't changed a bit in appearance and some are quite different. I'm not sure exactly which category I fall into. I still can't get over what a great night it was! Travis had a great night too. I'm so glad that he's the kind of person who doesn't need me to stand there with him. He probably knew just as many people there as I did. Anyway, the moral of the story is--go to your class reunions! They are FUN!

Reunion Weekend!!!

Yippee!!! It's finally here! We had such a blast this weekend. I LOVE my friends and had such a great time with them. A HUGE thank you to my parents and Travis for watching the boys so I could go out and play. :-)
On Friday, Heather, Carmin, Sherri and I went to Monicals for dinner and then to Celebration where we stood on one street corner and never left it! Several classmates stopped by so we got caught up with a bunch of people which was nice. It was too stinkin' hot though. It's hard to look great when the humidity is 95%. I was like a wilted dandelion by 11:00 p.m. (when we got kicked out of Celebration because it was closed.) And yes, that is my Hannah Montana shirt which also doubles nicely as "Knight in Shining Armor" costume for a certain 6 year old.

Saturday, we met at Harmony Falls Spa and my friends got pedicures. (They make me uncomfortable so I just came along to visit.) Heather, Sherri, Carm and I were sitting in this little pedi room and in walks Laura in her Mt.Zion Braves Cheerleader jacket. So funny. She had found a box of high school memories and brought it along for us to look at. She had tons of school wallet pictures and snapshots of everything from junior high on up. What a hoot to look at that stuff. Those poor ladies who were doing the pedis must have thought we would never shut up!






I will post more about the actual reunion later. I will say that it was AWESOME!
